Mylène is an upcoming French vocal for the DeepVocal engine.
History[]
Back in 2018, just like fellow vocal synth users, her creator took interest and liking into a then brand new program, called Sharpkey. Considering the fact that only Chinese vocals were supported and made for the program, with the later addition of Japanese, she imagined three possible ways, in case she would have applied to Galaxy project: the Chinese bank of Sakura Cerise Kieine under the codename CHN-V1, what was Molly Wang's return under a DeepVocal form after being a character bank planned for NiaoNIAO, and an unnamed potential French implementation project, quickly codenamed as SHP-FR1.
As she wanted a brand new character to eventually get a bank on the software one day, SHP-FR1 was kept in spite of low chances of daring to apply, being picked up, and French being considered among developped languages.
Character[]
Mylène is a young adult lady, whose age is not known (is said to be between 19 and 25), neither her real birthday so far. She is collected, mysterious wise and can be mischievous at times. At first sight she can come out as aloof but once she's trusting someone, her soft spot shows more easily and reveals a cheerful character, yet not necessarily in the hyper energetic way. She carries a strong aura and is a fashonista. Mylène enjoys singing and reading. Her key colour scheme is écru, a colour which name means "uncleached", as in unbleached textile's appearance. This is a pale shade of yellowish beige with greyish feel.
Mylène's item is also her favourite food, that is flaune (a kind of French cheesecake from Southern France and Massif Central, mostly made of ewe recuite -close to Italian ricotta and Corsican Brocciu- and orange blossom water). Her most adored fragrance is ylang-ylang flower's scent. Even though her wardrobe is wide and varied, she keeps her most extravagant outfits for stage performance, preferring a more classic, moderate and serious look. Her official appearance though, is supposed to be her in a dress that shares same common points with her usual outfit. No one knows either her real surname, sometimes using "Mylène Mireille" as a stage name along with her first given name. She is also rumoured to have a sister whose she took the "Mireille" part, who's more childish, sweeter and with puffier blondish hair. Thus, she seems to be a character where some elements are mostly speculations.
Etymology[]
Two names were considered for her mascot: Mireille and Mylène. The latter was finally picked up as official name. Mireille was a potential name referring to the French actress Mireille Darc, an actress her creator liked, as well as Frédéric Mistral's heroin Mireille (called Mirèio in the original version) from the eponymous poem. Mylène is a nod to the French singer Mylène Farmer, as well as another French actress, Mylène Demongeot. In Japanese, Mylène's name is Miree, spelt as みれぇ or ミレー, which pronunciation can be a pun. Indeed, it is a double entendre and a pun between Mylène and Mireille since they both start with ミレ when transcribed into Japanese, referring to her mascot's name choice. It is also her common nickname.
Her codename SHP-FR1 refers to the fact she is the first French vocal developped by her creator for DeepVocal, back in the time the software was known as Sharpkey. Thus, it took S,H and P from Sharpkey, FR for the French language's code and 1 as being the first vocal ; in a nutshell "#1 French Sharpkey vocal".
Appearance[]
Mylène is a strawberry-blonde-haired young woman, with a youthful yet mature face, and is quite slender. She has light brown eyes that can turn into greenish hazelnut or pure black depending on mood or weather. Her freckles are barely visible at first sight as they're light enough to blend with her skin tone. Mylène also has a black mole near her lips, and is rather tall with slightly broad shoulders. She wears a lot of animal-inspired patterned clothes.
Her most usual outfit is a yellowish écru tunique with a mousseline-like tip and geometric patterns that can emulate animal designs like a giraffe's marks, with a black belt. Below she wears black capri pants-length leggings and dark tawny/black ballerines on top of which are sewn chouchou-like ornament that are écru-coloured and black polka-dotted. Sometimes her hair highlights can take on a more gingerish or more blondish shade. She has pale skin but can tan quite easily in Summertime.
