Lian Ye Yao (连夜谣 | Lián Yè Yáo) is an upcoming vocalist for the DeepVocal engine. He was announced on June 23rd, 2019. He is one of the first vocalists from VOCALTUDE.

History[]

Lian Ye Yao originated as a private voicebank on the UTAU engine, demonstrated in 2016. This voicebank was never released and no news has been heard about it since.

On June 22nd, 2019, a teaser was posted to Twitter featuring his silhouette alongside another character.[1] This was followed up on June 23rd with a demonstration posted to SoundCloud, announcing a Japanese voicebank as well as plans to record a Chinese voicebank after its release.

On July 19th, 2019, a sample of Lian Ye Yao's updated voicebank singing "Peek-a-boo" by Red Velvet was posted to his developer's Mastodon account. It was stated to partially include the voicebank's D4 set, though it was early in development.

Etymology[]

His surname, Lián (连), means “lotus" in Chinese. Yè (夜) means “night”, and Yáo (谣) refers to a "popular ballad" used by poets and composers to make lyrical ballads.
